The Gabe Bouchard Foundation calls for a fresh approach to help Marin County youth who struggle with the disease of addiction, their families and community, and to shine a public spotlight on an increasingly deadly epidemic.

Gabe’s spirit lives on through helping others

Our son, Gabriel“Gabe” Louis Bouchard, passed away at the age of 19 after a valiant fight against addiction. Larger than life, Gabe was a presence with a contagious laugh and an uplifting smile. Despite the love he shared with extended family and a host of friends, Gabe relapsed and suffered an accidental drug overdose after courageous attempts to conquer this deadly disease in both in-patient and outpatient treatment programs and in a 12-step recovery program.  Although Gabe had our support, we were lost and alone, constantly searching for a comprehensive source of information, resources and help within our community. No such thing existed.  Now no other family has to travel this path alone like we did. We are here to help. We have turned our grief into action. The heart of the Gabe Bouchard Foundation is to provide compassionate life saving support and information to youth and their families.

Teen substance use is our nation’s number one public health problem. Smoking, drinking
and using other drugs while the brain is still developing dramatically hikes the risk of addiction and other devastating consequences.”
